Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Opening Season Announced

While Disney is working to create the single largest themed land expansion it it’s history, the rest of us sit on the edges of our seats to hear any news we can get.

Finally they have announced their opening season and now we can look toward planning our own vacations to see this new land promising immersive experiences and even their own themed hotel in Walt Disney World.

Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge will open sometime during the summer of 2019 for Disneyland and in the late fall for Walt Disney World.  No exact dates have been announced yet & the opening can always be postponed if necessary.

Pixar Pier set to Open June 23rd in California Adventure Park

California Screamin’ will become the new Incredacoaster along with other changes that have re-themed the back of the Disneyland park into a Pixar Pier.  This area was an obvious choice for Disney to transform as they expand their Pixar presence in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World.  With the popular Toy Story Mania attraction already in the location, the theme of the area practically lends itself to Pixar.

Disney has made the following official announcement

“As Disney Parks Chairman Bob Chapek announced at D23 Expo Japan, Pixar Pier will open June 23, 2018 at Disney California Adventure® Park. This reimagined land will feature four whimsical neighborhoods representing beloved Pixar stories with newly themed attractions, foods and merchandise. Guests will enter Pixar Pier through a new marquee, pictured above, which will be topped by the iconic Pixar lamp later in the year.

The June 23 opening of Pixar Pier will also include the Incredicoaster – a super combination of character figures, lighting and special effects that will bring the Parr family racing alongside you in a high-speed adventure.

Also coming in June is a dazzling new float for the popular “Paint the Night” parade featuring Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl and Frozone from “The Incredibles.” This new float will bring all of the fun and excitement of the Incredibles’ world to life with high-tech, pop-art effects inspired by the mid-century-modern style of the films. Dynamic and innovative visual technology will also bring Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack to life, showcasing their powers in surprising ways!

“Paint the Night” Parade makes its Disney California Adventure Park debut when the first-ever Pixar Fest celebration begins throughout the Disneyland Resort on April 13, 2018.”

Toy Story Land will open in Walt Disney World on June 30th 2018

We’ve been watching closely as this land has been well concealed while it has been under construction and anxiously awaiting any tidbit of news that Disney has to release.  Now it’s official.  Disney has announced that Toy Story Land, in the Hollywood Studios theme park, will open on June 30th, 2018!

Disney’s official news below….

“When it opens, Guests visiting Toy Story Land will “shrink” to the size of a toy and join in on the fun Woody, Jessie, Buzz, and Andy’s other beloved toys are having in Andy’s backyard. Here, your Clients can take a ride on Slinky Dog Dash, a roller coaster Andy has assembled from his Mega Coaster Play Kit and topped off with Slinky and Jessie. (Check out the time-lapse video below of one of Slinky Dog Dash’s first test runs).

Families will also be able to take a spin on Alien Swirling Saucers, a galactic play set that Andy won from Pizza Planet. Here, adorable little green aliens swirl about in their flying saucers with guests in tow in their rocket ship toys, while “The Claw” hangs overhead.

Guests can also walk through a new carnival game box to experience Toy Story Mania!, which has been a Guest-favorite attraction at the park since it opened in 2008. Now expanded with a third track, the popular attraction will put even more Guests in the action taking aim at 3D objects – using everything from baseballs to cream pies – in a variety of whimsical, fast-paced games.

Woody’s Lunch Box – actually, Andy’s lunch box that he’s set on its side – will serve up tasty meals and old-fashioned soda floats from a walk-up window setting. The entire land will serve as a visual celebration of toys, with Crayons, Cooties, Green Army Men, Rubik’s Cubes, Tinkertoys, and other familiar toys and game pieces incorporated into the land’s design.”

The Height requirements for the above attractions are as follows:
Slinky Dog Dash – 38″ or taller
Alien Swirling Saucers – 32″ or taller

Star Wars land is expected to open in 2019 and once these lands are complete in Hollywood Studios, I will finally be able to tell people that this is a park where you want to spend at least one full day if no additional days to see everything.  I’m looking forward to the opening of Toy Story Land.  Follow along on my social media pages for my personal experiences in this new land when it opens in June.

Disney reveals Models for Star Wars Lands

Will it be worth all the hype?  My answer is “YES”!  If Disney brings Star Wars to life in the same way that they have with Pandora, Star Wars fans everywhere are sure to swoon when they enter the park and I am not excluded.

On Thursday night Disney presented a model of the lands & attractions that are currently under construction in Disneyland & Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World.

Bob Chapek, chairman of Disney Parks and Resorts stated, “All along, we have said this will be game-changing, and through the model we can begin to see how truly epic these immersive new worlds will be.”

It seems that a lot of focus is around the Millennium Falcon and it has been known that one of the unnamed attractions will put visitors at the controls of the ship.  The second attractions puts guests amid at battle of the First Order and the Resistance.

“The setting will be a previously unseen planet, a trading outpost just before “Wild Space,” as quoted by the Orlando Sentinel.

The Star Wars geek in me can hardly wait for new announcements about this highly anticipated land.  You can bet that I will be there personally for the first few opening days in 2019.

You can now plan your adventure to visit Pandora: the World of Avatar in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park.  The opening date is officially set for May 27th, 2017 and there will be some special preview dates Beginning May 13th.  I will personally be previewing Pandora the night of May 15th and will be writing a full review.

Frozen Ever After Attraction Opening Date Announced!

Today Disney has announced some very exciting news from Epcot® at Walt Disney World® Resort. Two new “Frozen” experiences – the Frozen Ever After attraction and the adjacent Royal Sommerhus – will officially open their doors June 21, 2016.

Begin Booking Fastpasses on Saturday May 21st, 2016 for the Frozen Ever After Attraction

Located in the Norway pavilion at Epcot, Frozen Ever After allows guests to set off on an adventurous boat tour through the kingdom of Arendelle. First, they’ll be transported to the “Winter in Summer” Celebration where Queen Elsa embraces her magical powers to create a beautiful “winter-in-summer” day for the entire kingdom. Next, guests will pass Troll Valley on their way up to the icy North Mountain to Queen Elsa’s Ice Palace before their return trip to the Bay of Arendelle.

And, over at the nearby Royal Summerhus, Anna and Elsa’s summer home, the royal sisters will be available for will for greeting opportunities.

The Norway Pavilion will open at 9 a.m., along with the Future World area of Epcot.

Guests will also spot Anna and Elsa over at Magic Kingdom® Park in the “Festival of Fantasy Parade” and the new “Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire” show coming to Cinderella Castle Forecourt Stage. Be sure to check the My Disney Experience app for the latest locations and times for any Disney Character.
