It costs the same to book through me as it does to book directly through Disney.

Buses from Disney theme parks to Disney Springs

Evening bus transportation from Walt Disney World theme Parks to Disney Springs is now offered. Buses will run every 15 minutes beginning at 4:00pm until 11:00pm, or until 2 hours after the park closes (whichever is earlier).

buses-to-disney-springs-horz

This, long awaited, transportation has been tested in the past at Animal Kingdom Park & has finally been added to all of the parks.  I personally think this is a great idea and hope that people will take full advantage of it so that Disney will keep it around.  Since Animal Kingdom will begin closing at 6:00pm in November, these buses will be a great opportunity to go directly to Disney Springs, see the sights, shop & grab a bite to eat.  In the past going from a park to Disney Springs meant taking a bus back to your resort & then a separate bus from your resort to Disney Springs.  From personal experience, I can say that this is very time consuming when every minute counts on your vacation.

Consider a nighttime visit to Disney Springs during your next visit to Walt Disney World.  The bustling atmosphere, endless food options and lively entertainment all make this shopping district a “must do” for your vacation.

Orlando Parks Give Out Insect Repellent

Beginning today Disney, Universal & SeaWorld are all giving out free insect repellent to park goers.  Since the arrival of the Zika virus in Miami, many of the tourist areas are taking extra precautions to avoid the virus’ spread through Orlando.  According to Visit Orlando Chief Executive Officer George Aguel in the Orlando Sentinel, Local efforts include grounds maintenance and ongoing elimination of standing water to prevent mosquito breeding.

Mosquito_Control_1_8-29-16

During my visit to Typhoon Lagoon Water Park today, I noticed about 3 locations where you could apply insect repellent.  At each station there was a cast member at a table with bottles of Cutter brand repellent, as well as a sign with the following information:
Mosquito prevention
Walt Disney World Resort has an extensive mosquito prevention and monitoring program.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the best way to prevent any disease spread by mosquitoes is to avoid being bitten.
The CDC encourages the use of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-registered insect repellents and protective clothing.
For your convenience, complimentary insect repellent is available at locations throughout Walt Disney World Resort.  Please ask a Cast Member to direct you to the nearest location.
For the latest information, check the CDC website: cdc.gov.

Mosquito_Control_2_8-29-16

Although I never did spot a mosquito, I did notice a couple of people stop & take advantage of the insect repellent.  Most visitors just passed these stations by.  It’s good to see these areas take a proactive approach in preventing the arrival of the Zika virus to the Orlando area.  Now you can feel that much safer on your next vacation and if you are concerned about the virus, be sure to stop at one of these location & apply repellent.

I couldn’t help but wonder what kind of a deal Disney got with Cutter Brand for the repellent.  Hey, they get free Coke why not bug spray?

Tax Free School Shopping?

So…. In Florida they have this thing called “tax free school shopping”. Sounds neat right? No taxes on school supplies, clothing, bags, back packs etc… that even includes adult clothing. WOW, I think to myself; I totally want in on this deal, where do I sign up?

taxfree

Well… this year is has been shortened from 10 days, during previous years, to just 3 days, Friday Saturday & Sunday. You can shop anywhere, including online & pay no taxes on anything that could be school supplies. Oh, I almost forgot, they have also disallowed computers & tablets this year.

My point? I see this quickly turning into the “black Friday” of school shopping. I’ve heard several people say that they start their shopping late Thursday night at Walmart & check out just after midnight to avoid paying the taxes. Crazy, right? This weekend I have decided to give this a shot; I just hope that there are school supplies left by the time we get around to the stores.

I better wrap this post up & start finalizing my list of everything that we need. We need to hit the stores with a plan tomorrow morning.  😉

Good luck to all of my fellow Florida school shoppers tomorrow!!!

My name is Melissa & I am a new Florida resident.  Yes, we have purchased our Walt Disney World annual passes & have been to the parks every weekend.  If you would like to plan a Florida vacation or cruise, send me an email.  I like to think my full time job is the “director of development” for 2 growing boys.  But I also have a part time job as a travel agent.
