Disney Cruise Line – early 2021 itineraries open to book in October

In early 2021, Disney Cruise Line will return to New Orleans for a limited-time engagement with sailings to the Bahamas and Caribbean, including visits to Disney’s private island paradise, Castaway Cay.
A lineup of popular itineraries will continue across the Disney fleet with cruises to tropical destinations from Texas, California and Florida.

Return to New Orleans

Back by popular demand, the Disney Wonder will return to the bayou from late January through February 2021 with a series of magical voyages. A pair of four- and five-night cruises to the Western Caribbean kick off the season from New Orleans. The five-night voyage includes a visit to Progreso, Mexico, a new port of call for Disney Cruise Line on the Yucatan Peninsula. This quaint town is filled with treasures for families to explore together, from ancient Mayan ruins to hidden swimming holes filled with crystal-clear water.

Three seven-night sailings to the Bahamas with a stop at Disney Castaway Cay, plus a 14-night Panama Canal cruise, round out the departures from the Crescent City in early 2021.

Guests sailing from New Orleans will experience the flavors and flair of the Big Easy both onboard the Disney Wonder and ashore. The sounds and sights of New Orleans come to life at Tiana’s Place restaurant, where families are transported to an era of southern charm, spirited jazz and street party celebrations with live music and other surprises inspired by the Disney animated film “The Princess and the Frog.” Before or after their cruise, your Clients can savor the city’s distinct cuisine, visit family-friendly museums and parks, and take in the sounds of world-renowned live jazz music.

Popular Itineraries from Texas and California

The Disney Wonder will also return to the popular home ports of Galveston and San Diego in early 2021. Guests sailing from Texas can enjoy the white-sand beaches of the Western Caribbean on a series of four- and six-night cruises to Grand Cayman and Cozumel. One seven-night departure will feature stops at Key West, Nassau and Disney Castaway Cay.

Following the season in New Orleans, the Disney Wonder heads to the West Coast for a variety of sailings to Baja and the Mexican Riviera departing from San Diego. Families can hunt for gold aboard a pirate ship in Cabo San Lucas, embark on an off-road adventure in Ensenada or sunbathe on glittering sand beaches on cruises ranging from three to seven nights.

Bahamian and Caribbean Getaways from Florida

Disney Cruise Line will have three ships sailing to the Bahamas and Caribbean from Florida in early 2021, and every cruise includes a day at Disney’s private island paradise, Castaway Cay. This award-winning destination, reserved exclusively for Disney Cruise Line Guests, is the ultimate escape for everyone in the family.

From Miami, the Disney Magic will sail three-, four- and five-night Bahamian and Western Caribbean cruises.
From Port Canaveral, the Disney Fantasy will sail seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries.
From Port Canaveral, the Disney Dream will sail three- and four-night Bahamian cruises.

Fifth Disney Cruise Ship Named – Wish

Your wish is their command on every Disney Cruise Vacation. I find ‘wish’ to be an intriguing name to add to the current Disney fleet with the Disney Magic, Wonder, Dream & Fantasy. As you sail the high seas with luxurious service, surroundings & experiences you will have an unforgettable experience that will last a lifetime and the fifth Disney Cruise ship will be making wishes come true for many generations of families.

During the D23 Expo today, Bob Chapek was joined by Joe Rohde as he announced the name of the 5th Disney Cruise ship and also revealed a few details about the atrium and the iconic character that will adorn the ship’s stern.

The stern on the new ship will feature Rapunzel on the Disney Wish. Disney Parks Blog states ” Our favorite artsy princess, paintbrush in hand, uses her enchanted hair to suspend herself as she decorates the stern of the ship with the help of her feisty sidekick, Pascal. Spirited, smart, curious and above all, adventurous, Rapunzel embodies the wish and desire to see and experience the world. The stern on the new ship will feature Rapunzel on the Disney Wish.”

The ships atrium design is set to be bright, airy & elegant in true Disney fashion. The atrium has been inspired by the beauty of an enchanted fairytale.

Although the Disney wish is scheduled for delivery to Disney in late 2021, it will not set sail until January 2022. Two more ships will following the coming years and all of the new ships will be powered by liquefied natural gas and will be slightly larger than the Disney Dream & Fantasy at approx 144,000 gross tons with 1,250 guest staterooms.

Further details were revealed about Disney’s private beach that is currently a work in progress. As previously announced, the location is on Eleuthera in the Bahamas and Disney’s private beach will be called Lighthouse Point. Joe Rohde is also spearheading the development of Lighthouse point and has been busy touring the culture of The Bahamas with local artist & experts. Joe has stated that Disney Will be involved in conservation efforts to preserve and protect the environment and is working to create a destination that immerses guests in Bahamian culture and Disney magic.

After assessments are done and plans are reviewed, construction could begin in 2020 with completion in late 2022 or 2023.

In total three new ships will be joining the Disney Cruise Line fleet. There will be magic for everyone and I am sitting on the edge of my seat to hear any new details on the ships & the ports that they will visit.

In early 2020, Disney Cruise Line will offer families even more ways to explore the world together with the addition of a brand-new home port in New Orleans, Louisiana and a highly anticipated return to the Hawaiian Islands. Disney Cruise Line will also return to Puerto Rico for a limited time and continue guest-favorite itineraries to tropical destinations from Florida and California.

Who doesn’t want to take a Disney Cruise to Hawaii?  After a five year hiatus, Disney Cruise Line will be visiting Hawaii again on 2 special cruises in early February 2020; nine-night voyage to Honolulu from Vancouver, Canada, on April 29, and a 10-night sailing back to Vancouver on May 8.  During these dream vacations, guests will discover the breathtaking beauty of the Hawaiian Islands, including the famous beaches of Waikiki on Oahu; the views from high atop the summit of Haleakala Crater on Maui; the lush tropical gardens and waterfalls of Kauai; and the diverse natural wonders of Hawaii Island.

For the very first time ever, the Disney Wonder will be sailing 6 sailings from New Orleans for a limited time during 2020.  Just the thought of a little bit of food & jazz music for a few nights before my cruise makes me want to jump onboard right now.  Before or after your Disney cruise, you can venture into the city to savor the distinct flavors of famous New Orleans cuisine, visit family-friendly museums and parks, and revel in the sweet melodies of world-renowned jazz music. Travelers will delight in the Southern charm of this new home port, and Disney fans will find magic around every corner as they experience the iconic sights and sounds that inspired the beloved animated film “The Princess and the Frog.”
The Disney Wonder will embark on six cruises during this limited-time season from New Orleans, including four-, six- and seven-night Western Caribbean sailings; a seven-night Bahamian cruise; and a 14-night Panama Canal voyage, departing February 7 through March 6.

The Disney Wonder will also continue to offer the popular itineraries from Puerto Rico before moving to California to continue the Mexico & Baja cruises from San Diego.

The Disney Magic, Disney Dream & Disney Fantasy will all sail out of Port Canaveral and include stops at Disney’s private island Castaway Cay.

Disney Cruise Line Planning THREE new Ships!

Last year  Disney Cruise Line announced that it would build 2 new ships for their fleet.  These ships were scheduled to set sail in 2021 & 2023.  Well… recently they have told the public that they would be adding not two but three new ships, nearly doubling the size of their current fleet.  The additional ship is scheduled to set sail in 2022.  This means that Disney would have a new ship every year for 3 years in a row, beginning in 2021.

Disney_Magic_Castaway_Cay

“We decided two ships wouldn’t be enough to hold all of the exciting new experiences we have been dreaming up to take family cruise vacations to a whole new level with immersive Disney storytelling, world-class family entertainment, and imaginative innovations that are fantastically fun and uniquely Disney,” Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, said.

The three new ships will be powered by clean-burning liquefied natural gas and be the same size – approximately 135,000 gross tons with about 1,250 guest staterooms planned – which is a little larger than the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy.  The ships’ names & design are still in development at this time.

Disney boasts that these new ships will “usher in the next generation of innovative cruise experiences designed especially for families that will transform the art-of-cruising and take guests on adventures in a way never dreamed of before.”

Personally having cruised on all 4 of Disney’s ships, I can say that the Disney Cruise Line experience is nothing short of luxurious.  I have to wonder with these new ships, where will Disney Cruise Line take us to next?  Will the original ships set sail in China, Australia or any number of new destinations.  Maybe one of the original ships will be a part of the Adventures by Disney itineraries in the future?  Will this possibly bring down the price of the Disney Cruise Line experience or just create more hype for this highly sought after cruise experience?  This all remains to be seen.

Stay tuned & I will be sure to pass along any new announcements from Disney Cruise Line.

My name is Melissa & I am a Disney addict; I’m also a travel agent.  I currently live in Florida with my family, which allows me to keep up with all of Disney’s every changing offerings from the parks to the ships, I always love to explore it all.  If you are dreaming of a Disney Cruise, you can now book through the end of 2018 and I can help you plan at no added cost to you.  That’s right, it costs the same to book through me or directly through Disney Cruise Line & you get personalized service & never a hold time on the phone.  It all starts with a free quote.  😉  Visit my website or contact me for more information.
