New Images released for the Disney World Star Wars Resort

Disney is reaching new heights in the guest immersive experience category and who can blame them?  For Star wars fans everywhere imagine the thrill of being able to step right into the action.  Imagine being onboard one of the Star ships in the fleet and not only being there but dressing in the Star wars attire, seeing the stars out of the windows, the sounds the smells and this will not be just a 3 minute ride.  This will be an entire experience as if you have stepped through the screen and into the movie.  I can only imagine that this will be a luxury experience that will come at a luxury price, but for Star Wars fans everywhere, we can only dream…

Disney has made the following announcement today along with the new images.

“Earlier this month we shared a look inside the groundbreaking new hotel concept coming to the Walt Disney World® Resort that will combine luxury with complete immersion into an authentic Star Wars story.

Today, we’re thrilled to have more new visuals of this resort to share with you!

The immerse experience offered at this hotel will stand out among all of our resorts around the globe. As you can see, families visiting this resort will board a starship alive with characters and stories that unfold all around them during their voyage through the galaxy – and every window has a view of space!

The resort will also be seamlessly connected to the highly anticipated Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios®, allowing your Clients a complete Star Wars experience. Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort – Our Family Review

When Universal opened Diagon Alley and Cabana Bay Beach Resort, in the same year, we knew we had to schedule another visit.  It has been long overdue that Universal Orlando have a value priced resort as part of their vacation packages.  We were thrilled to be able to try it out and October was the perfect time of year for us to visit.

When we pulled into the drive, we were greeted by the bright, tropical sign that was aligned with the retro-theme of the resort.

Cabana Bay Beach Resort Lobby

The lobby is saturated in color and refreshing with well arranged seating and palm trees that grow in the very center.

Although Cabana Bay offers family suites complete with kitchenettes, we opted for a standard room, for our family of 4, on this visit.

The retro style rooms were spacious and bright.  The floor to ceiling windows had views of either the parking lot of the pool for an extra cost.  There was plenty of space for luggage and even one of the largest closets I have seen in the value class of resorts.

The bathrooms allowed plenty of space with the sink on the outside to better accommodate families on a busy schedule.  It is always nice to be able to have one family member in the shower & another able to brush their teeth.

Of course we were hungry after we arrived so we decided to try out the Bayliner Diner.  There were multiple food choices and even refillable drink mugs available.  There was a plethora of indoor seating as well as comfortable outdoor seating, somewhat near the pool with the lazy river.

Now for our very favorite part of this resort….  the swimming pools.

Cabana Bay has 2 large swimming pools.  Both have their advantages.  The pool nearest the Bayliner Diner includes a lazy river area and offers movies by the pool at night.  The water in the lazy river is warm & a joy to float, play & relax in.  You can purchase large float tubes to float in, but we preferred to be down more under the water than floating on top of it.  The other pool has a water slide, splash pad and even private cabanas for rent.  The water slide is fun for all ages.  We stood at the bottom of the slide to greet the kiddos when they got to the bottom.  You will get wet by the waterfall at the bottom of the slide.

Each pool had plenty of seating to relax in the sun, with the softest sand I have ever sunk my feet into at a resort pool area.  Both pools had a zero entry area where the kids enjoyed wading out for some splash time.  Life jackets are provided for your kids free of charge.

Cabana Bay has so much to do inside the resort.  After arriving by plane, we easily spent the last half of our day with the entertainment provided at the resort.  Not only do they have a large fitness club and game room, they also have a bowling alley.

When it was time to visit the theme parks, the quickest way to get there, from Cabana Bay, was by bus.  The buses ran constantly from a single stop at Cabana Bay to a single stop at Universal’s City Walk.  From there you walk through City Walk to either of the park entrances.  We never had to wait long for a bus to arrive and many times they were lined up waiting to be loaded.  One advantage of staying in Cabana Bay, along with the other Universal Resorts, is that we were allowed entry into one theme park an hour before the general public.  This is a great time to ride those attractions that will have long wait times later on in the day.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Cabana Bay Beach Resort and will definitely stay here again in the future.  The kids are looking forward to what they have declared “the funnest pools in the Universal Resorts”.  For more pictures visit my pinterest gallery:
