Disney has announced that the name for the outpost in the village will be Black Spire Outpost. Does this ring a bell? Have you seen Solo: A Star Wars Story? If this name sounds familiar, you may have caught the mention of it in the movie & I’m confidant that this was no mistake on the part of Disney. L3-37 mentions a similar location in Solo. While the droid, Lando, and the rest of the gang approach the Millennium Falcon, L3 says that Lando couldn’t find Black Spire without her. If you haven’t seen Solo yet, I will tell you that I felt it was great family entertainment on a hot & muggy, summer day here in Florida. It is well worth seeing; listen & see if you can catch the mention of “Black Spire” when you go.
Disney’s official announcement talks about what you can expect when you visit Galaxy’s Edge.
This weekend at Star Wars: Galactic Nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios®, we shared some exciting news about Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. OWalt Disney Imagineering Story Editor, Margaret Kerrison, shared for the first time that the name of the village is called Black Spire Outpost. She also shared some of the history behind the name and how this village is closely associated with the geological formations that surround it.
The largest settlement on the planet Batuu, Black Spire Outpost is an infamous stop for traders, adventurers, and smugglers traveling around the Outer Rim and Wild Space. Off the beaten path, this outpost has become a haven for the galaxy’s most colorful — and notorious — characters. Widely known for the petrified remains of its once towering ancient trees, the spires now stand guard across the river valleys and plains and have long captured the imagination of travelers to this planet. To the first settlers, these petrified spires became more than just landmarks; they became the heart of the outpost itself.
As construction rises around Hollywood Studios, Disney has also officially announced the location of the immersive Star Wars hotel.
We are happy to share the location of this exciting addition, which is currently under development on the south side of Disney’s Hollywood Studios®, just east of World Drive. This location will allow the experience to be seamlessly connected to the highly-anticipated Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, enabling your Clients to fully immerse themselves in the story of Star Wars.
From behind Hollywood Studios you can see the new development towering over the theme park as the rock formations are being built. Counting on the fact that the Millennium Falcon attraction will be as thrilling as Flight of Passage, there will be lines easily 3 hours long for this experience.
