Disney Cruise Line Planning THREE new Ships!

Last year  Disney Cruise Line announced that it would build 2 new ships for their fleet.  These ships were scheduled to set sail in 2021 & 2023.  Well… recently they have told the public that they would be adding not two but three new ships, nearly doubling the size of their current fleet.  The additional ship is scheduled to set sail in 2022.  This means that Disney would have a new ship every year for 3 years in a row, beginning in 2021.

“We decided two ships wouldn’t be enough to hold all of the exciting new experiences we have been dreaming up to take family cruise vacations to a whole new level with immersive Disney storytelling, world-class family entertainment, and imaginative innovations that are fantastically fun and uniquely Disney,” Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, said.

The three new ships will be powered by clean-burning liquefied natural gas and be the same size – approximately 135,000 gross tons with about 1,250 guest staterooms planned – which is a little larger than the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy.  The ships’ names & design are still in development at this time.

Disney boasts that these new ships will “usher in the next generation of innovative cruise experiences designed especially for families that will transform the art-of-cruising and take guests on adventures in a way never dreamed of before.”

Personally having cruised on all 4 of Disney’s ships, I can say that the Disney Cruise Line experience is nothing short of luxurious.  I have to wonder with these new ships, where will Disney Cruise Line take us to next?  Will the original ships set sail in China, Australia or any number of new destinations.  Maybe one of the original ships will be a part of the Adventures by Disney itineraries in the future?  Will this possibly bring down the price of the Disney Cruise Line experience or just create more hype for this highly sought after cruise experience?  This all remains to be seen.

Stay tuned & I will be sure to pass along any new announcements from Disney Cruise Line.

New Spaces on the Disney Dream Ship

On a Disney Cruise there is never a lack of things to do, but with the Disney Dream just sailing from it’s remodel there are even more exciting areas to explore.  This makes me want to take another Disney Cruise in the very near future.  What do you think?

New experiences and fun await guests when they sail on the Disney Dream, which has just returned from a three-week dry dock. Headlining the ship’s enhancements are two new interactive youth areas, one themed to Star Wars and another to Disney Infinity. Also new is the whimsical sweet shop serving handmade gelato and the ever-popular Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutqiue. For adults, a new splash pool and sun deck provides an oasis for relaxing.

Here’s a closer look at what’s in store for Guests of all ages:

In Disney’s Oceaneer Club, young Guests can enjoy two newly themed areas. Kids are transported to a far away galaxy at Star Wars: Millennium Falcon, a Force-filled play area inspired by the spacecraft from the legendary saga. In the Disney Infinity area, children can experience a whole new way of playing together with exciting virtual experiences and immersive activities. Customized, on-screen adventures bring to life characters and stories from across The Walt Disney Company.

Vanellope’s Sweets and Treats satisfies the sweet tooth of cruisers of all ages, with handmade gelato and ice cream, an assortment of candy, and delectable novelty treats for purchase. New to Deck 11, the smell of freshly baked waffle cones and candy lingers from the specialty store’s two entrances, inside Cabanas restaurant and outside by the pool deck.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on Deck 5 midship brings to life the storybook fantasies of young Guests with pixie-dusted and piratical makeovers. This very special salon offers aspiring princesses and knights ages three to 12 the chance to transform into royalty with the help of a fairy godmother-in-training. On pirate party night this boutique becomes The Pirates League where swashbuckling pirates of all ages will have the opportunity to unleash their inner buccaneer.

Exclusively for adults, Deck 13 forward includes a new water feature, Satellite Falls, a circular splash pool with benches and a gently falling rain curtain that provides cool comfort. Around this upper deck, adult Guests can soak up the sun in loungers or relax in the shade under a canopy.

Imagine taking the young Star Wars fans in your house on a cruise where they can play in the Star Wars kids club during the day & watch the new Star Wars movie in the Walt Disney Theater at night.  Disney Cruise ships run current, popular Disney films around the clock in their 2 theaters.  Some are even in 3D & if you are lucky you will get to see a Prem-Ear movie before it releases anywhere else. *Movies are shown in the theaters for a limited time & there is never any guarantee which movies will be shown on specific dates.

Does this make you want to take a Disney Cruise on the Dream?  It all starts with a free quote.  visit my website or email me for my Free booking and planning services.  It costs you nothing extra over booking directly through Disney and you will get any specials that Disney offers on top of my perks & goodies.

New Disney Infinity Content announced for the Disney Cruise Line Bands.

Among the Disney Infinity news, at the D23 Expo this year, was an announcement about being able to bring home exclusive Disney Infinity content with you after sailing on the remodeled Disney Dream Ship.  The Disney Dream will undergo Dry Dock from Oct 4th – Oct 24th 2015.  When the ships sails this November it will include an all new Disney Infinity space and toy box elements as part of the kids club areas.  This space will offer Disney Infinity 3.0 kiosks along with interactive experiences.

The Disney Dream ship, currently offers 3 to 4 night Bahamian cruises out of Port Canaveral.  If you’ve been dreaming of a cruise, you could consider adding one of these short sailings to your next Walt Disney World vacation.

Along with some amazing Star Wars additions, check out all of the news for the Disney Dream remodel by Clicking HERE

UPDATE:  Now that Disney 3.0 has  been released we know more details about what has been released with the Oceaneer Bands or Disney Cruise Line MagicBands…

Any Oceaneer Band will work, including those from a previous sailing and from any cruise ship.  There may still be some content that is exclusive to the Disney Dream once it sails after dry dock.

The Oceaneer Bands currently unlock the following:
– A Disney Cruise Ship vehicle for the 3.0 characters to ride in.
– The Walt & Mickey statue that the regular Disney World theme park MagicBands unlock.
– Costumes or little Cruise Characters:
– Cruise Captain Mickey
– Cruise Director Minnie
– Sailor Donald
– Sailor Goofy
– Sialor Pluto
– Sailor Chip & Dale
– Cruise Ship Door – By walking through this door you can get to a cruise ship interior, that looks like a ship’s atrium.  You can then customize it with your very own touch.  There are numerous customization choices including things like the chandeliers from the Disney ships.

Exciting enchantments coming to the Disney Dream November 2015
Exciting enchantments coming to the Disney Dream November 2015

You will need an Oceaneer Club Band in order to unlock the Disney Infinity 3.0 content once you arrive home.  This has brought forward even more questions & I plan to try to do some deep investigation in the very near future.

Disney Oceaneer Club Band
Disney Cruie Line Oceaneer Club Band

Where and how do you get the Oceaneer Club Bands?
The bands are put on children that check into the Oceaneer Clubs.  If you plan to keep the band after you leave the cruise ship, you will need to pay $25, each band, to bring bands home with you.

What about people sailing without children, can we purchase Oceaneer Club Bands?
I will be investigating this question and filling in the answer soon.  I can imagine that Disney would offer a way for everyone to purchase Oceaneer Club bands.  They know that their Disney Infinity market includes people of all ages.

Will people be able to purchase extra Oceaneer Club Bands?

Will the Oceaneer Bands from Disney’s other ships be able to unlock the special Disney Infinity content?
My best guess is that the content is currently exclusive to the Disney Dream bands bought after the ship returns from dry dock.  I don’t doubt that in the future all of the Oceaneer Club bands will unlock some DI content, but I have no official word on this right now.

Do you have more questions about the new DI content on the bands?  Post them in the comments below & I will do my very best to answers for you.
