Carnival Cruise Line is bringing huge new updates & refurbishments to its terminals in Port Canaveral and this also includes the ships. Carnival is the largest cruise operator from Port Canaveral with Carnival Valor, Carnival Magic and Carnival Victory offering year-round departures and Carnival Sunshine sailing seasonally. Together these ships carry over 650,000 passengers annually.
Today I will be focusing on the Carnival Victory. This ship is in the Triumph class, is 893 feet long and carries 2754 guests and 1100 crew. It is currently sailing to the Bahamas & Caribbean out of Port Canaveral and Miami on 2 – 5 day and 6 – 9 day cruises. This ship is currently undergoing a refreshing remodel of the rooms corridors and spaces. The work is scheduled to be complete at the end of 2017.

When you board this ship you walk into the fabulous, eye catching atrium on deck 3 that extends all the way to a bright glass ceiling at the top of the ship. This is the center piece of the ship and completed by a bar, a DJ & glass elevators. In this atrium you will find the guest services desk as well as the shore excursion desk on deck 3. There are lively activities that go on here throughout the day & into the night.
There are a wide range of stateroom categories to suite every need. You can get a good bargain on an inside stateroom or relax on your own private balcony or choose a window room for something in between. The ship offers a premium large balcony room on the back of the ship or a wrap-around balcony where you can party with all your friends. These large balconies give extra lounging space & a lounge chair/s that you can lie back on while you enjoy a good book. If lavish is what you have in mind, than consider one of the suites. The Junior Suite is 310 square feet, the Ocean Suite is 340 square feet and the Grand Suite is 430 square feet of personal cruising space and even includes a jetted tub in your spacious, private bathroom.
Food is always plentiful from sweets & treats to full blown gourmet meals. If you go hungry while cruising the Carnival Victory, well… I don’t even know what to say about that…. The chefs are accommodating to special dietary needs & even special requests. There are buffets and room service for those on the go or formal dining rooms for people that like to enjoy every bite. For the kids or the kids at heart the not-to-be-missed Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast is offered one morning during a day at sea. Be sure to sign up for this event early, spaces fill quickly and it is worth the $5 per person charge to get in on the crazy antics of Thing 2, Thing 2, The Cat in The Hat and Sam I Am, all while enjoying a special Suess themed menu. Truffle Tree Pancakes anyone?
If soda is a must have for your cruise, you may want to consider purchasing the “Bottomless Bubbles package. The price is $4.50 per day for children and $6.00 per day for adults; at the time of purchase, a 15% gratuity will also be added to your sail & sign account. You can opt to also purchase a Carnival soft drink tumbler to go with your package for $4.95. With the bottomless bubbles program you can choose from 10 different types of Coke products and 5 different juices. Juice is also served in the buffet dining room. Alcoholic beverages, bottled water, specialty coffee & others are not included. If you are interested in alcoholic drinks, the Cheers Beverage Program may be right for you. Keep in mind the Cheers Beverage Program must be purchased for every adult in the same stateroom.
Trip Tip: If you are considering the Bottomless Bubbles Program, you can purchase this on the first or second day of your cruise. I myself tend to wait until the second day to save a little $$, since the first day is a short day.
Entertainment on this ship abounds with movies on deck, dance & night clubs that also host comedy shows, pools, bars, a water slide, a mini golf course, jogging track and 3 age appropriate kids clubs. Camp Carnival has activities for the little ones ages 2 – 5 & 6 – 8, Circle C is the tween area for children ages 12 – 14 and Club 02 is the teen hangout for kids 15 – 17 years old. For the entire family you will find well rehearsed, eye catching, jaw dropping nightly entertainment in the Caribbean Main Lounge on decks 3, 4 & 5 forward.
If you are feeling lucky, you may want to try out the South China Sea Club Casino on deck 5 midship. A friend of mine told me she won $1,000 on the penny slots. Are you onboard for a little relaxation, beautification or fitness? If your answer is “yes” than Spa Carnival, the Salon and the fitness area will be places that you will not want to miss. Who would not want to work out with a view of the wide open ocean in front of them? Then you can enjoy that extra dessert without feeling guilty. Special spa treatments of all sorts are offered; from acupuncture to seaweed wraps and even teeth whitening you will find it all onboard. Possibly one of my personal favorites are the pedicure or manicure at sea. You can sit back and enjoy your favorite treatment all while watching the ocean go by through the panoramic windows. If you have planned a special event or celebration, maybe a wedding, family reunion, anniversary or more, you may want to consider making an appointment to get your hair fixed in the upscale salon at sea.
The Carnival Victory offers something for everyone; delectable food, delightful entertainment, bright open spaces and as always… fun and helpful crew members that are always looking for ways to make your cruise extra special.
