We all know how thirsty we can get in the theme parks while visiting Walt Disney World, especially during the hot summer months. Even the Disney Dining Plan may not include enough credits to cover drinks for everyone.
UPDATE: in the fall of 2016 Disney has announced that it may charge a $5.00 package handling fee if packages are picked up at the front desk or delivered to the room.
Due to outsourced package delivery, in the past Disney has charged fees on shipping to resorts with a convention center (Grand Floridian, Yacht Club, Beach Club, Boardwalk Inn, Contemporary and Coronado Springs). This fee has been charged based on weight: less than 5 pounds = $3.00; 5 – 10 pounds = $5.00; over 20 pounds = $10.00 charge
Now Disney has announced that it “may” charge a $5.00 package handling free at all Disney resorts. If you have a question about this fee, you may want to call your resort directly.
If the package is being delivered to a resort with a convention center, yes. For all other resorts, no. Disney has outsourced the handling of package deliveries at resort convention centers to outside companies, and all packages delivered to those resorts go to the convention center.
Resorts with convention centers are: Grand Floridian, Yacht Club/Beach Club/Beach Club Villas, Boardwalk Inn/Boardwalk Villas, Contemporary/Bay Lake Tower, and Coronado Springs.
You will be charged a handling fee for each package you receive. The fee is based on weight. For packages that are less than 5 pounds, it’s $3. For packages from 5 pounds to 20 pounds, it’s $5. Packages heavier than 20 pounds have a $10 charge.
The Disney Parks do allow you to bring in food and non-alcoholic beverages as long as they are not in glass containers. Read here for Disney’s outside food & drink policy
If you are flying to Orlando & taking the Magic Express to the Disney Resorts, you may not have the opportunity to get a case of water when you get there. My family likes to order a case of water & have it shipped to our resort. For the next part of this article I am going to specifically refer to Staples because they are who I most frequently use and they offer free shipping on orders over $14.99 (That’s 2 cases of water). You’ll want to place your order about 5 – 7 days before your arrival.
Follow these steps to ship water to your Resort:
1. go to www.Staples.com
2. Log in or create a new account if you don’t already have one. This is important in order to get free shipping on orders over $14.99.
3. search for “bottled water”
4. add a case (or 2 for free shipping) of 24 bottles of Nestle 16.9 oz bottled water to your cart $7.99
5. go to your cart, be sure you have the “ship to address” radial button checked and then click “begin checkout”
6. address your package like this:
Your First and Last Name – Guest Arrival 00/00/0000
c/o your resort
City, State, Zip
You can google the name of your resort + address to find your resort address. (example: Art of Animation Resort + address)
7. Follow the instructions at check out & complete your transaction
Viola! Your case of water will be waiting for you at the Bell Desk/Luggage Services when you arrive.
Although you can get free ice water from any Disney food service location, my family tends to like the taste of the bottled water and so they stay better hydrated when we bring our own water. Also consider the fact that bottled water in the parks can run $2.50 a bottle which can equal $10.00 for a family of 4.
Here are a few other places where you can order bottled water to have shipped to your Resort:
http://www.Amazon.com – This could include free shipping if you are a prime member
http://www.Walmart.com – This may include free shipping if you are a member
